For the MAPM field campaign Bodeker Scientific set up three automatic weather stations to complement the data provided by automatic weather stations operated by the New Zealand MetService, the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA), and by members of the public who make their own measurements available through the the Weather Observation Website which is hosted by the UK Met Office.

Only the data from the Bodeker Scientific stations have been made available on the ftp server as the MAPM project does not hold the copyright to the other data. Should you wish to use any of the other AWS datasets, please email ethan@bodekerscientific.com and discuss this with us. If the copyright holder of the respective data agrees to share them with you, we are happy to provide them.

The instruments from the different sources are distinguished through their ‘Instrument_type’ naming, i.e.

AWS_BDS: Automatic weather station data measured by Bodeker Scientific as part of MAPM.

AWS_Metservice: Automatic weather station data kindly provided by the New Zealand MetService for the duration of the MAPM measurement campaign.

AWS_NIWA: Automatic weather station data kindly provided by NIWA for the duration of the MAPM measurement campaign.

AWS_WOW: Automatic weather station data kindly provided by members of the public and downloaded from the Weather Observation Website for the duration of the MAPM measurement campaign.
